Freedom of Seas eyes redesigning island hopping

A bolder and reimagined Freedom of the Seas will redefine island hopping in the Southern Caribbean, following a $116 million amplification. Royal Caribbean International has announced the high-energy features and guest favourites that will come aboard, including The Perfect Storm duo of waterslides, a redesigned Caribbean poolscape, a new take on a signature venue with Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and completely transformed kids and teens spaces.

Starting March 2020, the newly amplified Freedom will set sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico on 7-night Southern Caribbean cruises to idyllic destinations, from Saint Lucia and Antigua to the ABC islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

Royal Caribbean’s $116 million amplification of Freedom of the Seas will bring high-energy features and guest favorites on board. Highlights of what’s to come include The Perfect Storm duo of waterslides, a reimagined Caribbean poolscape, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, a new take on a signature venue; and completely transformed kids and teens spaces. Starting March 2020, the amplified Freedom will set sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico on 7-night Southern Caribbean cruises to idyllic destinations, including the ABC islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

A reimagined poolscape with all-day Caribbean vibes will introduce a larger variety of seating and shade with casitas, daybeds and hammocks; the Splashaway Bay kids aquapark, and grab-and-go Mexican fare from El Loco Fresh. Joining poolside is the new, signature bar The Lime & Coconut. The three-level hot spot serves up live music, cocktails and a rooftop deck for a bird’s eye view of the action.

Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen will feature a reimagined menu of authentic Italian dishes with a contemporary flair. From made-to-order pizzas hand tossed front and center, and baked in the in-house pizza oven, to a wide selection of wines and limoncellos, the lineup brings to life a fresh, new twist on a guest favorite.

The award-winning Adventure Ocean program will be reimagined from top to bottom on board Freedom of the Seas. Younger kids can choose their own immersive adventures across entirely new areas, including Workshop. Workshop will offer a variety of activities that range from hands-on art, science and tech fun.

Following a 360-degree transformation, the dedicated teens spaces on board the amplified Freedom of the Seas will be where teens have the independence to choose how they spend their time. The exclusive lounge will feature the latest gaming consoles, music and movies, places to hang out, and a new outdoor deck.

The Perfect Storm, the heart-pumping duo of racer waterslides, is three stories of adventure that will take excitement off the charts. On Cyclone and Typhoon, guests are in for the ultimate race as they go head to head through twists and turns for bragging rights

Freedom’s amplification will also introduce more dining venues, spanning Italian, Asian and Mexican cuisine, tantalizing guests’ taste buds more than ever.

Freedom joins her sister, Independence of the Seas, as part of the Royal Amplified fleet modernization effort.
