ME by Meliá has launched its first Italian luxury lifestyle hotel in the heart of Milan’s fashion and design district.
Centrally located in the Piazza della Repubblica shopping area, the city’s vibrant design district, the building ME Milan Il Duca occupies was originally designed by globally renowned late architect, Aldo Rossi. The property occupies the site of the former Hotel Duca di Milano, and its interiors have been redesigned by Mortini’s Studio to become a cosmopolitan hub with modern interiors.
The hotel is a fusion of traditional and contemporary Italian design with seductive furniture, neutral colours and urbane textures. ME Milan Il Duca offers 132 exquisitely designed, modern rooms, including 32 Chic Suites, a Personality Suite and a ME Suite. Situated on the first floor, the Personality Suite and Suite ME both have an impressive 100 square metre private terrace overlooking the Piazza della Repubblica.
ME Milan Il Duca showcases furniture designed by the late architects, Gio Ponti and Luca Meda, who worked in collaboration with Aldo Rossi. Renowned industrial designer, Achille Castiglioni, also created the floor lamps throughout the hotel, with imagery by Madrid-based fashion photographer, Alberto Van Stokkum. His work focuses on icons from the world of music and fashion and will be permanently and exclusively exhibited throughout the hotel. Bespoke artworks by Milanese artisans are also on show across ME Milan Il Duca.
ME by Meliá hotels are renowned for their breathtaking rooftop spaces. At ME Milan Il Duca, the Radio Rooftop Bar located on the tenth floor and accessible via an exclusive express lift offers spectacular panoramic views of the Milanese skyline, including the new towers in the Garibaldi area. Open daily from 12pm until late, the rooftop bar features international tapas and an extensive cocktail list.
ME Milan Il Duca also boasts the first Italian branch from contemporary restaurant STK®, a unique concept that artfully blends the modern steakhouse and chic lounge into one, offering a dynamic, fine dining experience with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse. STK Milan’s menu offers a selection of steaks and grills in an elegant setting. The alfresco restaurant, Il Giardino del Duca, provides an all day dining menu available until 6pm. In the evening the 40-cover terrace will serve à la carte dishes from STK. STK® is The ONE Group’s primary restaurant brand. ME Milan Il Duca also has two flexible meeting rooms measuring a total of 100 sqm, available for events and conferences. It offers the latest audio-visual equipment and complimentary Wi-Fi for guests and visitors. A 24- hour fitness centre is also located on the ground floor.
