Mama Shelter goes to Hollywood. The hotel brand created seven years ago by the Trigano family, co-founders of Club Med, has opened its first hotel in Los Angeles, California, the sixth worldwide. The ethos of the brand is to be “a sanctuary but an open one, an oases unseparated from the vibrant energy of a thrumming city”, thus creating lively and atypical modern urban retreats.

Designed by Thierry Gaugain, Mama Shelter Los Angeles perches six-stories over Hollywood Blvd. The 70 rooms have comfortable king beds, duvet with 100% satin cotton sheets and 27 inch iMacs (featuring television and movies, music, video/photo booth, and of course the Internet).

The Communal Restaurant allows for an authentic American diner experience and the bar and lounge serves classic cocktails.

Mama’s rooftop allows guests to take in the sights of all of Los Angeles with a near 360 degree view from the Hollywood sign to Downtown to South Bay to the Westside.

The first Mama Shelter opened in Paris and now there are hotels in Marseille, Istanbul, Lyon and Bordeaux too.

In October 2014 Accor acquired around 35% stake in Mama Shelter’s capital and about twenty new Mamas are due to open over the next five years. This partnership gives Mama Shelter access to Accor’s development and distribution network, which will allow it to accelerate its openings and offer its customers new destinations. The brand is already working on opening an address in Lille, a second location in Paris, as well as others in Zurich, Mexico City, Seoul, Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York and London.
